GENERAL NOTES & MEMOS RE: MY BIRTHDAY
or
WHY I'M SO LATE IN RESPONDING TO THIS.

OK, so it's a bit after my Birthday but I probably owe some thanks to a number of you.
The week or so between my birthday and somewhere around Bastille Day always seems to be chaotic.
This year was even more so.
Actually the birthday day itself was, in and of itself, calm and peaceful.
I received enumerable texts and posts from my friends, for which I was very grateful, and then spent the day in the Garage and finished up at the bar at the Recovery Room.
(A Restaurant across the street from the hospital on Ocean Avenue for those of you who don't know it.
I took this image in the early period of COVID while the Yale Hospital across the street was a mad house where the Restaurant was taken out only.
Anyway…
I was recovering from a couple of art shows and the bar less than a mile from my house seemed to be a good place to be.
The weekend after my Birthday was SailFest which had been on hold for two years.
In the past this drew 300 thousand or more into a city the size of Westport (CT), mercifully the numbers were more reasonable this year, and a lot of the truly crazy element seems to have stayed home.
I almost did that myself, but finally loaded up a camera or two realizing that this is really my major opportunity to photograph people.
I had to start with a double dip to Fairfield by taking the train to meet with the carpenters about installing a range hood in a ½-tiled wall.
On the way back I had the front car to myself with Kim the engineer and had all the windows and doors to myself alone.
Hopefully, I'll have a few interesting images that I get using the big windows and doors of the new cars.
I still, however, miss the tables…
This also became the weekend that my sister's husband decided to do a Marat and up and die but then in the opposite direction, I was the best man (There were assorted takes on my name as a best man in any capacity) for Bob's wedding on the second week.
Even that had a bit of drama of its own during the rehearsal
when one of the choraleers tripped getting down a step and went flat on her face on the floor.
She survived nicely and sang the next day.
The wedding itself was wonderful with only a hint of drama provided by the woman two cars in front of me as I went to park the car.
Fairfield county is, indeed, the home of a lot of weird self-centered and crazy people.
This woman went on a full rant because somebody had touched her car.
Maybe dirty fingers…??
I did take a few pictures of Bob's daughter and granddaughter since I was sitting with them. I hope I don't embarrass them…
Well, I'm back in New London, and thank you all with belated notes and memos about all my Festive adventures...
